2020 Year In Review: COVID Support and Education
Early on in the pandemic, LeadingAge realized that regular communication with our members and state partners would be key to helping you fight the coronavirus. In March, we began sending LeadingAge Need to Know every weekday morning and launched Online Coronavirus Policy Update calls featuring LeadingAge members and experts in our field.

The LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston shared brief summaries of the latest data and analysis on how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting older adults and the people who care for them. And the Knowledge Center developed new educational resources on the Learning Hub.
Recognizing the need to connect members with each other to share best practices, we created a new COVID-19 Member Community group for members and a COVID-19 inbox to field member questions. We also began curating offers from businesses wanting to help members get through this crisis on a growing list of Trusted Business Resources.

And finally, LeadingAge adapted to new virtual events, with successful Virtual Collaborative Care & Health IT Innovation Summit and 2020 Annual Meeting Virtual Experience (recorded sessions are still available!).
Pandemic-related challenges continue and so will our support for members, which you can keep track of in this daily email update. We look forward to serving you in a brighter new year!

Following are the latest news and resources.

We are sharing the very latest with members with weekday morning email updates and live online updates Mondays and Wednesdays. Visit the main coronavirus page anytime.

New Resources for Affordable Housing Providers

This week, two comprehensive sets of resources became available, both based on LeadingAge Director of Housing Operations and Policy Juliana Bilowich’s deep understanding of COVID’s impact on affordable housing providers, and both highlighting amazing LeadingAge members. First, new on the Learning Hub: COVID and Affordable Housing. This session provides targeted information on CDC infection prevention recommendations for HUD-assisted senior housing settings, HUD and Fair Housing regulatory compliance during COVID-19, and strategies for property staff and resident communications during a pandemic.
Second, from the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 Training Initiative, two free courses, one designed for assisted living and one for senior housing communities, on COVID-19 response strategies. These courses provide a central platform for assisted living administrators and senior housing providers to learn how to develop and implement a comprehensive health emergency response.
