  • AllyAlign aims to transform the care delivered to geriatric special needs populations by enabling senior living providers to embrace, and thrive, under value-based care.

The $37 million fund, closed earlier this year, targets early to mid-stage, emerging-growth companies that are focused on the aging or post-acute care sectors.

6 CAST Members Win 2018 McKnight's Excellence in Technology Awards

Six CAST members captured honors in the 2018 McKnight's Excellence in Technology Awards. The awards recognize organizations that harness technology to improve eldercare. This year, for the first time, the program included both Skilled Care and Senior Living tracks, with 10 technology categories each.

Stanley Healthcare was this year’s Platinum Sponsor, with Gold-level support from MatrixCare and Netsmart, a LeadingAge CAST Supporter. CareCommunity by MatrixCare is a LeadingAge Gold Partner with CAST Focus. Winners were announced in early October.

Dignity Gold: Westminster-Canterbury – LeadingAge CAST Patron Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay wins Dignity Gold. Its clinical trial through the Birdsong Initiative studied digital engagement that decreased participants' depression by 55%. To make the technology affordable, Westminster-Canterbury partnered with engineering company TMM Groupe to create its own in-room engagement tool called “The Birdsong Tablet: No mind left behind.” Its cost is less than discounted in-house cable TV.

Gold Award, Activities category: Charlie’s Place Activity and Respite Center and It’s Never 2 Late – Charlie’s Place Activity and Respite Center, a day program for people with dementia, won a Gold Award in the Activities category in the Senior Living track for its use of It’s Never 2 Late (iN2L). Hymn music, played on a portable iN2L device and then on a stationary unit inside the building attracts and engages participants, and iN2L makes caregivers’ jobs less stressful. iN2L is a LeadingAge CAST Supporter.

Gold Award, Survey Category: Granite Creek Health and Rehab with PointClickCare – The Matrix function of PointClickCare’s electronic health records system enabled Granite Creek Health and Rehab to win a Gold Award in the Survey category (Skilled Nursing Division). Previously, Granite Creek’s nursing director had used an Excel spreadsheet for the facility resident matrix, which is needed for surveyors. The PCC Matrix function simplified the process and enabled the director to hand surveyors the matrix when they walked in the door. PointClickCare is a LeadingAge Gold Partner with CAST Focus.

KISS Gold Award: Menorah Manor Menorah Manor in Florida, a LeadingAge  Member, won the KISS (Keep it Super Simple) Gold Award for its Companion Pet Therapy Program at the Marion and Bernard L.
