Rules and Procedures

  • The case is designed to test students’ knowledge and problem-solving skills for a variety of healthcare-specific topics, including finance, operations, and strategy.
  • All participants must be pursuing a graduate degree (i.e. MHA, MPH, MBA, etc.)
  • Each team may have one coach faculty or alumni. Coaches can assist with presentation skills, provide general feedback, and attend the case competition events.
  • All work, including the presentation, analysis, deliverables, and strategy should be the work of the team members exclusively. Teams are allowed to present their solutions to non-team members and receive feedback about their solutions.
  • Team members may only use publicly available information when conducting their research and creating their solution. Teams may not contact any employee (past or present) of the organization that is represented in the case.
  • Teams may not mention their respective university or program in their presentations. Teams are only able to use their team number (which would be provided). No university logos or colors should be worn during the presentation. Any reference to the university or program will result in automatic disqualification from the competition.
  • Student observers/alternates are encouraged to learn from the team members, but they should not provide assistance with case preparation or analysis. All work should be completed by the three team members.
  • Observers and coaches can watch their team’s presentations during the competition. If your university’s team does not advance, you are welcome to watch the other teams in the final round.
