In late September, 282 seniors participated in the Fifth Annual Friendship Village Silver Games. The competition, for individuals 62 and older, spanned 4 days and included 42 different events.
Located in Schaumburg Illinois, Friendship Village collaborated with Schaumburg Park District, GreenFields of Geneva, and the YMCA to make the event come to fruition. According to Jeff Ross of Friendship Village, “This year’s games were a great example of community partnership and celebrating seniors.”
Research consistently supports the value of physical and mental exercise in maintaining overall well-being throughout life.
The Silver Games emphasized the importance of both by offering friendly competition in physical fitness events like swimming, and mental fitness events like Sudoku.
