Washington-LeadingAge's Center for Aging Services
Technologies (CAST) today released
Telehealth and RPM: Provider Case Studies 2014
, a set of 3 case
studies that offer peer-based guidance for long-term and post-acute
care (LTPAC) organizations that are selecting and implementing
telehealth and remote patient monitoring (RPM) products.

Telehealth, which includes RPM, is the delivery of
health-related services and information via telecommunications
technologies.

The case studies allow LTPAC organizations, physician
practices, integrated health delivery networks, accountable care
organizations (ACOs) and others to learn about selecting the
appropriate telehealth tool through real-life examples from similar
organizations.

The impacts experienced by users, and the potential revenue streams
and business models that support these telehealth technologies are
also examined by these new case studies.

"The case studies we've included this year truly
illustrate the wide variety of technology platforms, settings and
audiences where telehealth can make a difference" said Majd Alwan,
Ph.D., LeadingAge senior vice president for technology and
executive director of CAST. "We look forward to continuing our work
with the participating vendors and providers to track real-life
examples of how telehealth and RPM are saving money while improving
health outcomes."

The case studies complete CAST's telehealth portfolio,
which also includes:

The updated telehealth portfolio exists as a companion
to
CAST's electronic health record (EHR) selection and
implementation portfolio
