Nurse Leadership Enrichment and Development (NurseLEAD) is a training program to help nurses who act as charge nurses and team leaders in long-term care environments become more effective coaches, leaders and supervisors of frontline staff. Nurses play a critical role in long-term care settings by motivating, teaching and improving the skills and performance of certified nursing assistants (CNAs) who deliver the great bulk of hands on care. Past research has demonstrated, however, that most long-term care nurses are poorly prepared to assume supervisory and leadership responsibilities
The NurseLEAD online training curriculum was developed to help address this gap and is focused on long-term care nurses. The program as developed from: (1) literature on nurse leadership and supervision in long-term care; (2) literature on adult learning; and (3) experience with nursing assistants and nurses in long-term care settings. The program costs $35 per participant. For groups greater than 20 persons, the program costs $30 per participant.
