The 2017 LexisNexis® Top 100 Home Health and Hospice Providers listing of the leading U.S. hospice providers is based on medical claims and patient volume data from the industry-leading LexisNexis® MarketView™ claims database. The 2017 rankings of the 100 largest home health and hospice agencies in the United States demonstrate the continued growth of corporate home health and hospice providers. .

The LexisNexis 2017"Top 100 largest home health and hospice agencies Rankings" also ranks Medicare-certified providers by national market share and aims to map the market landscape for potential merger and acquisition activity.

Even though corporate home health agencies are in the top ten, there still is some market penetration by nonprofit home health agencies. For example, LeadingAge members: Good Samaritan, and Masonicare were included in the top 100 home health agencies.

The same is true for hospice. The largest agencies tend to be corporate hospices that are in multiple states, yet there still is some market penetration by nonprofit hospices in certain parts of the country. For example, LeadingAge members: Hospice of the Western Reserve, Hospice of Cincinnatti, Hospice of Dayton, Inc., and Masonicare were included on the list.

Many of the largest home health and hospice providers are also major providers of nursing homes and LTC hospitals, a trend that is challenging with the growth of Alternative Payment Models/ Shared Savings and Bundled Payments.
