MetLife Foundation Announces Award Winners

Congratulations to National Church Residences and Rogerson Communities, and Menorah Housing on winning the 2012 MetLife Foundation Awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing. 

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2012 MetLife Foundation Awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing. Three of the four winners are past and present LeadingAge members:

  • National Church Residences's Hopeton Village in Chillicothe, OH.
  • Rogerson Communities's Farnsworth House in Jamaica Plain, MA.
  • Menorah Housing's Long Beach Senior Housing in Long Beach, CA.   

Each will receive $50,000 unrestricted grants from the foundation.  

The annual award is offered by Enterprise Community Partners with partnership from the MetLife Foundation. The grants are awarded to exceptional green, senior housing properties with services. 

The winners will participate on a panel at the 2012 LeadingAge Annual Meeting in Denver Oct. 21-24.

Award winners were chosen from numerous applications, based on the following criteria:

  • Green features
  • Innovation in health and supportive services and approach to aging in place
  • Effectiveness of property and asset management
  • Documented resident outcomes
  • Use of technology
  • Integration of universal design
  • Design responsiveness to resident and community needs
