The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs eliminated co-payments for veterans receiving in-home care via telehealth. This change in regulation supports their commitment to veteran centered care in the community.

On May 7, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) eliminated copayments for veterans receiving in-home care via telehealth technology as written in the final rule in the Federal Register.

This new regulation exempts in-home video telehealth care from having any required copayment.

The VA believes that removing the co-pay will eliminate a cost that may have previously discouraged veterans from choosing to use in-home video telehealth as a care option.

The VA has attempted to make home a preferred place of care, whenever medically appropriate and possible.
