Riverside's Starlight Program in Newport News, VA, is designed to provide a safe, active environment for older individuals from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. Sunday to Thursday. Medical professionals are available to monitor their health needs, including administering medication.

Participants with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia who may be suffering from "sundowner's syndrome” can enjoy dining options, and social activities. Many times, individuals with "sundowner's syndrome" may attempt to wander from their homes, which is a major safety concern for the caregiver.

The development of nighttime adult day programs meet the needs of both the caregiver and their loved one with dementia. ElderServe at Night at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, NY, also provides this innovative service through their adult day health program.

Wisconsin and North Carolina also have adult day services programs with night hours.
