Philanthropedia Names LeadingAge as High-Impact Organization
LeadingAge is 1 of 13 not-for-profits in the aging field recently idenitfied as "high-impact" by Philanthropedia, a program of Guidestar.
This designation comes after 88 experts in the field evaluated not-for-profits working in 1 of the following 4 fields:
- Health care, caregiving, and long-term support
- Housing
- Economic security
- Other services, including transportation, civic engagement, socialization and prevention of elder abuse.
Several types of not-for-profits were considered, including direct-service providers, coalitions, advocacy organizations, associations, or research organizations.
According to LeadingAge's profile, the evaluating experts believe LeadingAge "effectively assists older adults seeking access to long-term care, affordable housing, and health care benefits." Experts also commented on LeadingAge's advocacy effort on long-term care financing reform. According to a foundation professional, "They (LeadingAge) have emerged as the real leader in long-term care reform."
