United Methodist Homes, a LeadingAge member in New York, is educating local lawmakers about how it contributes to the state's economy. According to a report from LeadingAge New York, United Methodist employees 583 employees and spends $49.5 million each year on payroll.

Overall, the statewide financial impact of long-term services and supports is around $29 billion per year. But United Methodist Homes CEO Keith Chadwick says he hopes elected officials realize it's not just about the dollars.

"Those dollars do translate into jobs," Chadwick points out. "They translate into care and services for the vulnerable elderly that we serve."
