Nearly 30 nursing leaders from skilled nursing and assisted living communities gathered in July 2012 to learn from nationally recognized speakers and researchers at “Continuing Quality in Challenging Times,” Direct Supply’s 5th Annual Clinical Leadership Conference, which was located in Milwaukee, WI.

Nearly 30 nursing leaders from Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living communities gathered to learn from nationally recognized speakers and researchers at Direct Supply’s 5th Annual Clinical Leadership Conference, “Continuing Quality in Challenging Times.”

At the conference, nurses gained insight into the latest in research and best practices in the use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. They also discussed the benefits and challenges with implementing a nurse residency program into a Long Term Care environment and heard from a panel of experts who shared expertise and answered questions on how providers can begin preparing for QAPI regulations.

“This conference is one of many ways we’re reaching out to post-acute-care nurses,” said Liz Jensen, RN/MSN, Direct Supply’s clinical director. “We’re also pleased to announce that nurses in attendance were able to receive contact hours for continuing education through a newly formed partnership between Direct Supply and the UW-Madison School of Nursing Center for Professional Development & Outreach.”

Jensen is spearheading efforts like this conference to actively expand Direct Supply’s commitment and outreach to its Clinical Nursing Leader customers. An educator and former nurse executive, Jensen is guiding the development of clinical resources, nursing education and professional networking opportunities.
