CAST has updated its Medication Management Selection Tool with a revised product and vendor matrix and a new case study. This year, CAST added a summary of all the lessons learned from past Medication Management initiative case studies so that users can quickly find key points from their pioneering peers’ experience and wisdom. The free tools are designed to help long-term and post-acute care (LTPAC) provider organizations identify and select the medication management technology solutions that best fit their needs.

“This portfolio of tools is updated every year to help health care providers stay on top of technology innovations intended to help them improve medication management for the populations they serve, facilitate the sharing of lessons learned by providers who implemented such technologies, and support and accelerate the efforts of other providers who want to improve care through appropriate medication management solutions,” said CAST Executive Director Majd Alwan.

The updated portfolio features medication management products intended for use by prescribers, physicians, LTPAC providers, pharmacies, and even individual consumers. The products are designed to reduce medication-related errors and improve coordination and communication across the various phases of medication management.

The portfolio includes these components:

White Paper and Interactive Guide

A white paper and an interactive online guide are designed to help busy executives and professionals get a quick jump start on the topic and navigate the comprehensive white paper efficiently. Both resources will help organizations understand:

  • Different medication management technology solutions and their uses and benefits.
  • How to plan to implement medication management technology.
  • The most important functionalities to consider when selecting a medication management technology solution.

Selection Tools

This year’s Product Selection Matrix and Online Selection Tool compares 23 different products from 21 vendors. These tools will help providers better understand the functionalities that commercial medication management vendors offer.
