The National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health, is seeking volunteers to participate in clinical research on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

The NIA points to progress achieved so far in developing new ways to diagnose, treat, and potentially prevent Alzheimer's disease. This progress is due to the thousands of individuals who have volunteered to participate in clinical trials and other studies.

According to the NIA, more than150 clinical trials now in progress need volunteers. At least 70,000 people with Alzheimer's disease, healthy individuals, and caregivers are needed for these studies.

People can volunteer by calling 1-800-438-4380 or on-line at www.nia.nih.gov/alzheimers/volunteer. More information is available from NIA.

LeadingAge members can help by making this information available to residents and clients and their families.
