LeadingAge seeks inclusive participation within the field of aging services, representative of its diverse workforce. Any individual who works for a LeadingAge provider member organization is eligible to apply, irrespective of professional experience, type or level of position.
It is far more important for an applicant to demonstrate deep leadership potential within their organization than it is for them to have a specific job title or tenure in the field. In addition, we strive for an exceptionally diverse cohort of fellows with a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, including but not limited to age, gender, race, ethnic, religious and geographic diversity.
This focus on diversity creates a richer learning experience throughout the program year, helping to fuel leadership development and personal growth.
Fellows are expected to complete all required projects, assignments and readings as well as participate in all related meetings, site visits, sessions and conference calls.
Participation in the program is contingent upon employment by a LeadingAge provider member. In addition, if at any point a Fellow is unemployed or fails to meet any of the program's eligibility criteria continued participation in the program is subject to review by LeadingAge.
FEES and EXPENSES
A non-refundable fee of $5,800 is required upon selection. Participants are responsible for their own hotel and travel costs/arrangements. LeadingAge is pleased to offer financial support (up to $5,800 to cover program fee) to organizations with limited financial resources. Interested individuals will be asked to provide a statement of need as part of their application.
LeadingAge will provide each Fellow with all required reading materials as well as complimentary registration to the 2017 Annual Meeting and 2018 PEAK Leadership Summit. In addition, some meals are provided onsite.
A committee of LeadingAge members and association staff will evaluate applications using the following criteria:
• How well does the applicant demonstrate a personal commitment to the field of aging services?
• How well does the applicant demonstrate a dedication to lifelong learning?
• To what extent does the applicant possess the leadership capacity needed to be a transformational
• How well defined, insightful and introspective are the leadership essays?
Please note: In cases where there is more than one application from a single-site organization, only one applicant from that organization can be selected for the program year. In the case of multisite organizations, up to two applicants (from geographically different sites) can be selected for the program year.
Applicants will be notified of the status of their application when final selections are made in August.
Applications for the 2018 Leadership Academy are no longer being accepted. Applications for the 2019 Academy will open in March 2018.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS
As part of the Academy program, Fellows will have the opportunity to attend and earn credit for the General Sessions and some education sessions held during the LeadingAge Annual Meeting and PEAK Leadership Summit. Continuing education credits are not offered for the Leadership Academy program.
