Before adjourning its 2011 session, Congress passed a temporary extension of the therapy caps exceptions process, keeping it in effect through Feb. 29, 2012.
The extension legislation did not contain the cuts in reimbursement for bad debt that had earlier passed the U.S. House of Representatives.
Congress still needs to pass legislation to extend the therapy caps exceptions process and other expiring Medicare provisions through the end of calendar 2012.
We are urging Congress to extend the therapy caps exceptions process without cutting reimbursement for bad debt or imposing other reimbursement cuts on long-term services and supports providers.
These providers already have absorbed significant cuts under the Affordable Care Act and administrative payment changes. Enough is enough.
