Rodney Whittington has joined the staff of Village Shalom as chief operating officer. In this new position, he will oversee and manage daily operations for the campus of the continuing-care retirement community (CCRC), including the areas of nursing, facilities and grounds, dining services, resident services, and social services. “I am honored to have this opportunity to join an organization with the reputation of excellence that Village Shalom has built,” Whittington said in a press release. “It is my hope to contribute to the efforts made to fulfill our mission, to enhance the quality of life of older adults."
Whittington holds a bachelor’s degree in life sciences and gerontology with an emphasis in long-term health care administration from Kansas State University. He also brings to Village Shalom a wealth of experience in long-term care. He is a licensed nursing-home administrator with broad experience in skilled nursing, dementia care and rehabilitative services. He has served as administrator for senior-care facilities in several Kansas locales, including Prairie Village, Russell and Liberal.
Most recently Whittington served as executive director for Pivotal Healthcare in Overland Park, KA. In this capacity, Whittington worked with several continuing-care retirement communities throughout the Midwest in the design and pre-build phases of their construction.

Whittington and his wife, Jessica, have 2 daughters: Taylor, 13, and Hudson, 3.
