HITECH Act: Resources for State-Level Action

This page provides links to a number of resources that LeadingAge state affiliates and members in the states may find helpful to engagement in state-level efforts funded by the HITECH Act to promote the adoption of electronic health records (EHR) and to facilitate the exchange of health information among health care providers.

Guide for Aging Services Technology Demonstrations at State Capitols
State Health Information Exchange Leadership Forum. The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), under contract with the Office of National Coordinator for HIT, has created a State Health Information Exchange Leadership Forum is producing toolkits to guide state HIE efforts in the early stages of development (e.g. creating governance structures etc.).
Vulnerable Populations Module for State HIE Toolkit: This module has been developed to include information on Vulnerable Populations served by Long-Term, Post-Acute and Behavioral Health Care providers. It provides guidance to state HIE grantees, state directors and their staff on including these populations and the providers who serve them in their planned activities. This module will become a part of the state HIE website these entities can be better informed about these populations and the providers who serve them for consideration in the planning of their clinical information sharing demonstrations.
