This summer, residents from Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community, a LeadingAge member in South Carolina, competed in a triathlon. Team members were between 59 and 68 years old and everyone finished the race. Beyond the satisfaction of reaching a goal, the Still Hopes residents experienced myriad physical and emotional benefits.
The Still Hopes Triathlon program is part of the organization’s larger mission to help people stay healthy as they age. According to Denise Heimlich, director of wellness, Still Hopes believes “in providing opportunities so people can reach their full potential in mind, body and spirit.”
Training for a triathlon is just one example of how Still Hopes residents are striving toward their full potential.
