Rydal Park, a campus of Presby's Inspired Life located in Abington Township, northeast of Philadelphia, announced that it is opening a state-of-the-art medical center. This new, 94,000 square foot medical center is the first phase of a comprehensive $55 million 3-phase repositioning plan for Rydal Park. Construction began in November 2009, and the new addition opened in November 2011.
The modern and technologically advanced building provides long-term and short-term rehabilitative care on 3 resident floors, with 2 levels of parking below. All 114 skilled-nursing resident rooms are private, with full baths, flat screen TVs, and writing desks. Many of the resident rooms and commons areas feature floor-to-ceiling windows with shade systems. The building also offers a rooftop wandering garden, comfortable living rooms and parlors, an art studio, activity centers, and a meditation room. The restaurant-style dining venues for each floor feature country kitchens and a back-of-house food and supply service system that is not seen by the residents.
A large state-of-the-art physical and occupational therapy suite is reserved for all skilled nursing residents. Additionally, resident connections from the new Medical Center are separate from the service connections, further enhancing the resident experience. Rydal is now beginning the second phase of the repositioning, which involves transformation of the old skilled nursing floors to new personal care and memory support floors. The schedule for completion of the remaining two phases of the project is December 2012. The repositioning project team includes 2 LeadingAge Premier Sponsors, Greenbrier and HJ Sims, as well as:
