Residents and staff of Carol Woods Retirement Community recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of Pat Sprigg’s tenure as president and CEO.
“Someone who has been in a position for 20 years is not the norm. It says a lot about her and it says a lot about Carol Woods and the Board,” said Carol Woods resident and co-chair of the Anniversary Committee Foster Owen. “She is highly respected and sought-after. We are most fortunate that we have her and are able to provide the atmosphere and challenge that keep her staying here.”
Sprigg and her family moved to Carrboro from Pennsylvania, where she was vice president of development for the Kendal Corporation. In addition to leading Carol Woods, Sprigg has also been involved in senior issues on local, state and national levels.
She has established Carol Woods as a community that fully embraces its not-for-profit mission and reaches beyond its campus to improve the lives of all older adults. She and other staff serve on numerous boards and committees, such as the Orange County Master Aging Plan.
Carol Woods opened in 1979 and is home to 460 residents.
