The 2012 National Study of Long-Term Care Providers (NSLTCP) is well underway, but the number of respondents to date is substantially below the targeted goal. Therefore, the adult day services industry is missing a significant opportunity to promote the important services it provides to the elderly and to young disabled adults in your communities.
If you have not yet participated, you will get another Fedex package around mid-November with information about completing the questionnaire. Please complete and submit the questionnaire before Thanksgiving. If you need help or have questions while completing the questionnaire, please call the toll-free helpline at 1-800-957-6456 to speak to an NSLTCP project team member.
There is limited research that includes national data on adult day services. The lack of available data is a barrier for our advocacy work with promoting adult day services. Data from this survey will be helpful with promoting additional research on adult day services.
If you have already submitted the NSLTCP questionnaire for your center, thank you!
The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will replace NCHS' previous periodic long-term care provider surveys and will include adult day services centers.
The surveys will be conducted by mail and will take on average 30 minutes to complete.
NCHS plans to use the administrative and survey data to produce a free, regularly updated overview report on the supply and use of different types of paid, regulated long-term care in the United States.
The NCHS plans to have the overview report of the first national survey for the adult day service centers in late 2013.
This survey will be the first collection of national data on the adult day industry. RTI International is collecting the data for NCHS. The directors of adult day services centers have been contacted by mail and asked to complete the questionnaire. Please contact Peter Notarstefano, Director of HCBS at LeadingAge if you have not received a survey or have a problem submitting a survey.
No information about individual adult day services center participants will be collected. Information will be collected on a variety of topic areas, shown below.
About adult day services centers:
About participants in a center:
It is important for all adult providers to complete and submit the surveys, so we have accurate information on adult day services.
The availability of more data may help us demonstrate the important role adult day services have in the continuum of care.
