The Spring 2011 issue of Generations, the American Society on Aging's journal, features an article from LeadingAge CEO Larry Minnix supporting the Community Living Assistance Service and Supports (CLASS) Act provisions. The article offers insights on how CLASS can transform the way Americans pay for long-term services and supports.
The article, "The CLASS Story Pits the Angel We Don't Know Against the Devil We Do," explains the CLASS program's history and answers common questions about legislation's implementation. Minnix also discusses LeadingAge's work to define the plan advocate for its inclusion in the Affordable Care Act.It also helps people and policymakers understand the law's value for themselves and the people they serve. According to Minnix, "We must persuade the public and our political leaders that CLASS is a risk worth taking, with little downside. The risk ofthe status quo is predictable, unacceptable, and catastrophic. CLASS is the angel we don’t know versus the devil we know all too well."
