LeadingAge Testifies On Supportive Services at Senate HELP Subcommittee Hearing

On Aug. 25, LeadingAge President Larry Minnix provided verbal and written testimony on our priorities for the Older Americans Act reauthorization for key staff members of the U.S. Senate HELP Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging as well as key staff for HELP Committee Chairman Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Ranking Member Mike Enzi (R-WY).

Larry's testimony focused our housing with services demonstration recommendation. 
 

In the written testimony, Larry discussed additional recommendations that include demonstratison projects to promote the use of technology, and improvements in public awareness of Older American’s Act programs.  

Minnix also mentioned the innovative programs offered by LeadingAge members:  

  • The Area Agency on Aging 1-B in Southfield, Michigan. 
  • Support and Services at Home program (SASH) in Vermont - Cathedral Square Corporation. 
  • Senior Connections in Georgia. 
  • Selfhelp in New York.
