As part of a LeadingAge Homecoming Week celebration, Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) visited with residents of The Marvin Senior Congregate Housing to discuss various topics that impact seniors.

Himes offered an update on pressing issues and current legislation, including:

  • Health care reform.
  • Affordable housing.
  • Medicare.
  • Social Security

"In times of difficulty, I think it's particularly important to have a robust dialogue with my constituents, especially seniors because there is so much demagoguing happening over Social Security and Medicare," Himes said. "The reform of Social Security and Medicare is the most important issue in the American fiscal environment."

Himes then addressed a variety of questions from the attendees.
