The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is providing $25 million in funding under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) to up to 40 states for the implementation of Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC) over the next 3 years.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will make an additional $27 million available through VA Medical Centers to help veterans with disabilities receive home and community-based services.
PPACA had already authorized $10 million per year for fiscal years 2010 through 2014 for ADRCs.
Further action by the Congress would be required to provide funding after fiscal 2014.
HHS said that approximately 8 states will be selected competitively to accelerate the development over a 3-year period of single entry point models in ADRC, which provide counseling and streamline eligibility determination processes for consumers receiving long-term service programs.
