Despite the periodic bursts of sun showers and the unexpected threat of tornado warnings this past Saturday, Bethel Homes in New York held their Grandparents’ Day celebration as planned. White, blue and black tents lined 19 Narragansett Avenue as clusters of customers went from tent to tent, perusing the wares offered by local vendors.
Family members arrived to visit their parents and grandparents amid live music, games, dancing, raffles and a barbecue. Children explored an ambulance, fire truck and police car and enjoyed setting off the sirens. Says Cathy SantaColoma, communications director at Bethel, "The event offered something for everyone, and most importantly, recognized our grandparents and great-grandparents for which the day was planned."
