Barbra Giles, associate director of Jewish Senior Life of Metropolitan Detroit, has been named the 2012 recipient of the Mandell L. and Madeleine H. Berman Award.
The award is given annually by the Jewish Federation of Detroit in order to recognize a leader in the local community who "manifests the highest professional standards of Jewish communal service."
In addition, "the professional must have made a contribution to and for the general good of the Jewish community, demonstrating creativity, dedication, knowledge and care in the provision of services to the Jewish community."
Giles will be recognized at an open house on Thursday, August 16 at 3-4:30 at the Fleischberg Residence/Blumberg Plaza of the Eugene & Marcia Applebaum Jewish Community Campus. To rsvp, contact Beth Tryon at email@example.com.
