On Nov. 1, LarsonAllen LLP and Clifton Gunderson, ranked as 2 of the nation’s top-20 certified public accounting and consulting firms, announced plans to merge and form one of the top-10 accounting firms in the United States.
The new firm will be named CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA). Pending final approvals, the merger will take effect Jan. 2, 2012.
CLA will bring together 2 firms of significant magnitude to offer unprecedented emphasis on serving privately held businesses and their owners, as well as entities in the public sector – nonprofits and governments. LarsonAllen is a 2011 LeadingAge Partner.
Gordy Viere, CEO of LarsonAllen, noted that this means "opportunity." He added, "Our firms are coming together out of a singular desire to serve clients better. Uniting two firms of our magnitude places us squarely amid the nation’s upper-echelon accounting firms – but without shifting our highly industry-specialized focus away from you: the individuals, privately-held businesses, their owners, and government and nonprofit organizations we've served for so long."
Viere continued, “Through this combination, we will significantly expand our industry insight and our geographic footprint. You will find us from coast to coast with a maintained presence in both the metropolitan and rural areas we have always served.”
