About the LeadingAge Center for Applied Research

The LeadingAge Center for Applied Research brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to a wide variety of research areas. The Center has earned a national reputation for its ability to translate research findings into real-world policies and practices that improve the lives of older Americans and their caregivers. We accomplish this important work by employing a variety of research methodologies, ranging from program evaluation and policy analysis to clinically oriented trials and observational studies.

The Center’s ground-breaking work includes a national effort to address chronic staff shortages in the field of long-term services and supports and to promote the adoption of proven workforce development and improvement practices. We support aging in place by demonstrating the efficacy of strategies that integrate health and supportive services into federally subsidized senior housing. Our research agenda also addresses such significant and timely issues as nursing home quality improvement, the role of advanced directives in improving end-of-life care, effective approaches for promoting health and wellness among older people, and the role of technology in helping elders remain in control of their health and independence.

Staff Expertise

The LeadingAge Center for Applied Research is staffed by an interdisciplinary team trained in public policy, public health, gerontology, epidemiology, psychology, sociology, statistics, survey research, long-term care administration and business. Our expertise spans four primary areas: program evaluation, knowledge transfer, policy analysis, and epidemiology-related clinical trials and observational studies. More
