What We Do

The Leading Age Institute, Inc. helps local communities launch age-friendly programs based on proven elements of innovative models – i.e. virtual retirement “Villages,” shared homes, cohousing, and social contract communities. Working closely with key stakeholders and civic leaders, the Institute uses its trained consultants to undertake and implement projects that support, accelerate, and optimize success of best practice models while ensuring a seamless flow of information and services. The non-profit Leading Age Institute supports communities throughout a full project development life cycle, from feasibility considerations to implementation and evaluation. As needed, its consultants help:

  • ASSESS community’s fiscal, environmental, cultural, service, and financial assets.
  • DEVELOP feasibility studies, phased project implementation plans, and evaluation criteria.
  • EDUCATE key stakeholders about a full range of age-friendly projects.
  • ADVISE community leaders of costs and benefits associated with potential projects.
  • FUNDING grant writing, private and public partnerships, and creating revenue streams.
  • FACILITATE group decision making processes.
  • CUSTOMIZE proven service delivery models and technology.
  • BUILD scalable, replicable, and sustainable programs.
  • AUGMENT project specific skills, as-needed, with experienced consultants.
  • INSTALL technology (software and hardware) which enhance program services.
